Logistics, Maintenance and Repair: Examining the Future Developments for Logistics, Maintenance and Repair within Brazil and Latin America Within the Armoured Vehicle Sector
Fleet Admiral Marco Antonio Guimaraes travelled to the UK this year to attend the flagship International Armoured Vehicles event, the precursor to Armoured Vehicles Brazil 2013. Presenting on a number of critical issues, Guimaraes was keen to highlight the procurement of the M109 and the increasing capabilities of Brazilian forces as the nation prepares to securely stage the World Cup and the Olympic Games.
Charles Forrester of HIS Jane’s reports from the International Armoured Vehicles event on the news that Brazil is looking to procure 76 M109A5 Paladin self-propelled howitzers through a US foreign military sales (FMS) request. Brazil currently operates 40 M109A3 self-propelled howitzers, made by BAE Systems, and continues to look at ways to modernise and mobilise its armed forces.
